Where are we walking? Dourgouti Neighborhood

With this question in mind, UrbanDig Project returns to Phanοsthenous Street of Dourgouti, the historical "Armenian market" of the former immigrant neighborhood of Dourgouti - Neos Kosmos in Athens. The group joins forces with three resident and university students, Haris, Maria and Paola. Their goal is to utilize past stories of organization, vitality and productivity as an inspiration for a better present. Highlights from group processes in the past life of the x-refugee neighborhood (1922-1970) at ten points along Phanοsthenous Street are presented through street signs linked to website www.pouvadizoume.gr.

At this website we are informed about corresponding modern collective processes for solving to day-to-day issues. Phanοsthenous Street will be for a year a hub of "information gates" inspired by the local past that strengthen an every-day culture of dialogue and collective processes between us all. The action is part of the "City Interventions" of the City of Athens "This is Athens - Polis" Project.
